What is Acupuncture ?
  • Acupuncture is a holistic treatment. It involves the insertion of thin needles at specific bodily points, most of which are grouped according to their clinical effects on lines called meridians. The theory of acupuncture is based in part on the premise that blood and energy termed Qi circulate in a cyclical fashion through these meridians. This energy flow is required for good health; blockages in Qi can lead to pain or ill health.

Why people choose our clinic ?
  • We treat people with care. Your experience during an acupuncture is important to your mental state and healing. Patients frequently comment that nobody has ever taken so much time discussing their health background before. Patients will also have a pleasant experience in our warm and inviting offices and treatment rooms.

    How Acupuncture Works ?
    • Inserting needles at acupuncture points stimulates various sensory receptors that, in turn, stimulate nerves that transmit impulses to the hypothalamic-pituitary system at the base of the brain. The hypothalamus-pituitary glands are responsible for releasing neurotransmitters and endorphins, the body's natural pain-killing hormones. It is estimated that endorphins are 200 times more potent than morphine. Endorphins also play a big role in the functioning of the hormonal system. This is why acupuncture works well for back pain and arthritis and also for P.M.S. and infertility
    • The substances released as a result of acupuncture not only relax the whole body, they regulate serotonin in the brain which plays a role in human and animal disposition. This is why depression is often treated with acupuncture.
    • Some of the physiological effects observed throughout the body include increased circulation, decreased inflammation, relief from pain, relief of muscle spasms and increased T-cell count which stimulates the immune system.
What condition is good for  acupuncture ?

    • Acupuncture has been used for centuries as preventative medicine and to relieve acute conditions and chronic conditions that have no natural cure in western medicine, such as asthma, chronic pain, anxiety and depression
    How safe is acupuncture ?
    • Acupuncture practice in developed parts of the world using single-use disposable needles sealed by the manufacturer in sterile conditions. The needles are open just prior to use by the acupuncture practitioner. Because of this, the risk of infection is very low.
Any risks or side effects from treatment?
    • At Acupuncture Associates, the use of sterile, disposable needles ensures that there is no risk of disease transmission. The needles are very thin and are much smaller than the needles used in the familiar hypodermic injections. The most common complication of treatment is a small bruise or a drop of blood when the needle is removed.
    Acupuncture is painful ?
    • No. Because the needles are so small and light, the sensation that occurs when the needles are placed is minimal.
